The 31-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Plainmoor at the end of last season, playing 16 times for the Gulls and helping them finish 17th in League Two. The Gulls went unbeaten for the final eight games of the season, keeping clean sheets in the final seven and Branston played a big part in that success. Previously a perminant deal looked unlikely but Branston's release by Burton has enabled him to sign a one-year contract. Torquay manager Paul Buckle said "Guy is already a firm favourite with the supporters and it is a great addition for this club. "He had other offers on the table which would probably have given him more money, but Torquay United is the place he wants to be at and we welcome him back."
