The Sixfields pitch failed a morning inspection despite dozens of volunteers helping to clear the snow.
Northampton`s facilities manager Avril Spraggon said: "We would like to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers. It was a tremendous effort and we did all we could to get the game on.
"Unfortunately, once again, temperatures dropped down well below those forecast the night before the game. We were forecast around -5 or -6, which the covers and the insulating snow should have been able to deal with. The reality was the temperature dropped down to around -10.
"We still did all we could to get the game on and while parts of the pitch are fine, other parts are frozen and that is what beat us."
No new date for the game has yet been arranged.
