The Brewers looked to have had all three points secured after establishing a convincing 3-0 lead in the first half through Andy Corbett, John McGrath and Chris Dunn's own goal, but Northampton hit back with goals from John Johnson and Andy Holt, while Billy McKay headed against a post.
Peschisolido said: "Even though we were 3-0 up in the first half I knew Northampton's set-pieces would be a problem for us.
"I asked the players to stand shoulder to shoulder in the second half and grind out a result and that's what they did. It was a very painful last 15 minutes and we had to battle it out and get as many bodies into our own box as possible.
"It was great to hold on and sometimes you've just got to win ugly. It was a case of backs against the wall for most of the second half, but it's great to get an away win again and to move out of the relegation zone."
