Early goals from John McCombe and Justin Richards ensured Shaun Harrad`s 60th-minute effort proved little more than consolation.
Vale striker Marc Richards saw red in the 63rd minute, leaving Albion up against 10 men for the remainder of the encounter, but they were unable to really recover from their shocking opening.
Peschisolido said: "We got off to our worst start to a game this season and I can't explain why that happened after the boys were so solid against Shrewsbury on Saturday.
"We were 2-0 down and up against it before the game had hardly kicked off. I find that unacceptable because everyone knew who they were supposed to be marking from the set-piece and then Scott (Malone) has made a mistake for the second goal.
"I've had to shake it up and the substitutions made a bit of a difference, but Adam Bolder was the only one of our players who could take any real credit from the game. He got stuck in and if a few more had followed suit we might have got something out of it. Overall, it was just a very poor performance and I'm very disappointed."
