Shrewsbury were gifted the chance to get their new year off to a flying start in the eighth minute when Matt Harrold pounced on a weak back pass by Burton defender Nathan Stanton but dragged his shot wide with only goalkeeper Adam Legzdins to beat.
Burton's best effort came from on-loan Aston Villa starlet James Collins, who was unlucky to see a well-struck 18-yard volley fly straight at Shrewsbury stopper Chris Neal.
"I thought we were immense at the back, and as a unit defensively we worked extremely hard," said Peschisolido.
"The only slight disappointment for me is that we got in some dangerous areas without really getting a chance on goal as such.
"I thought we might have just edged it. It was a great performance and with a little bit more luck and a little bit more quality in the final third we could have got three (points)."
