In a statement to local press Deeney said: "It was nice to be in the manager’s thoughts at Burton, but it’s time for me to move on.
"I’m waiting to see what happens in terms of interest from other clubs, but I expect to have something sorted out in time for the start of pre-season training.
"I enjoyed my time at Burton, but my next career move is a big one.
"I need to be playing regular football and I can’t see that happening at Burton.
Deeney originally signed on loan from Notts County, played in the memorable FA cup games against Manchester United and in total 52 games for the Brewers
