Spot-on Maghoma stings Bees
Barnet were unable to provide sick head coach Edgar Davids with a victory tonic as Burton were 1-0 winners at the Pirelli Stadium.
The former Holland international missed seeing his side lose to Jacques Maghoma's early penalty that secured promotion hopefuls Burton a fifth successive home victory.
Maghoma gave Albion the lead in the fourth minute after being brought down in the area by Barry Fuller.
Barnet went on to dominate the first half and had chances to get back to level terms, but big defender Andy Iro was denied by Stuart Tomlinson's reflex save while Ibra Sekajja blazed wide from a good position after great work by the dangerous Ricky Holmes.
Sekajji wasted another chance nine minutes after the break when he headed a Mark Byrne cross too high from six yards out.
Billy Kee had a rare chance to double Burton's lead just after the hour mark but was unable to force in Adam Drury's cross to the near post. Calvin Zola then fired wide with the goal at his mercy.
Zola had a shot pushed round a post by Graham Stack as the Bees were almost stung by a breakaway attack in the 71st minute before new signing Harry Crawford went close to equalising for the visitors with his first touch three minutes later.
